Poll Finds Overwhelming Pessimism from Redskins Fans for 2014 Season

by Chris Lingebach

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — The same poll which found overwhelming support for the Redskins name, among fans of the team living within the D.C. Metropolitan area, also found underwhelming optimism for the Redskins’ 2014 regular season.

A whopping 48 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Redskins fans believe the team will win between six and nine games in 2014, and 14 percent believe they’ll win between four and five games.

Six percent of self-declared Redskins fans polled believe the team will win three games or fewer, while 25 percent hopefully believe they’ll churn out between 10 and 15 wins. Three percent of respondents believed the Redskins will go undefeated.

Those same fans said the firing of Mike Shanahan and DeSean Jackson signing were the team’s “best” offseason moves, along with the hiring of Jay Gruden.

“After the heartache of last season, the majority of Redskins fans are lukewarm about the upcoming season,” said Vox Populi Polling spokeswoman Lisa Boothe. “They are, however, happy with the team’s coaching changes and the signing of DeSean Jackson.”
