WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Washington Nationals will move Ryan Zimmerman to the Disabled List for the second time this season, after he left Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies early with a strained right hamstring, and will recall Zach Walters, Mike Rizzo has confirmed.

“We’re gonna put him on the the DL today and recall Zach Walters,” the Nationals general manager told 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier on his weekly radio appearance Wednesday afternoon.

Zimmerman missed 44 games earlier in the season with a broken right thumb. He’ll now be moved to the 15-day disabled list to recover.

In his place arrives Walters from Triple-A Syracuse, where he’s hitting .300 with .358 on-base and .608 slugging percentages, along with 15 home runs and 48 RBI through 60 games.

Walters made his Major League debut earlier this season with the Nationals, hitting .182 with 3 home runs, mostly coming off the bench in 27 games between April 13 and May 24.
