LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — The Monday morning commute got off to a crawling start on Interstate 270 in Maryland.
A motorcycle crash in the southbound lanes, just past Route 109, closed the left lane of the two-lane road from about 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Monday morning. One person was injured in the crash.

Shortly after that crash was moved off the road and both travel lanes were reopened, another accident was reported in the back-up at the exit for Route 109. That crash added to the already lengthy delays.
Both crashes have been cleared as of 7 a.m. but traffic is severely backed up, extending into Frederick County toward Interstate 70.

Traffic reporter Lisa Baden says commuters should add at least 40 minutes to their commute.
Earlier, Baden advised taking Route 355/Frederick Road to circumvent the delays, but she now says Route 355 is experiencing longer delays than I-270 South.
