LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A shooting and robbery have stunned neighbors in a quiet Upper Marlboro community, but police are ramping up efforts to find the suspects.

WNEW’s Chuck Carroll reports that a woman was assaulted and a man was shot Tuesday while trying to fend off two people who broke into his home in the 13200 block of Keverton Drive. Prince George’s County Police say the robbers demanded cash from one of the victims.

The man is in critical but stable condition, officials say.

Police and Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents hit the pavement Friday to canvass the area.

Prince George’s County Police officer Nicole Hubbard said authorities spent the evening passing out flyers and speaking with neighbors to gather more information about the incident.

“We’re hoping just to drum up any leads – anyone who may have seen anything, heard anything. We’re hoping that they can recollect something that they may have seen out of the ordinary,” she said.

One woman told Carroll she was shocked that a shooting occurred on the same street that she’s lived on for nearly 30 years.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department at 301-772-4905. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), text “PGPD plus your message” to CRIMES (274637) on your cell phone or go to www.pgcrimesolvers.com and submit a tip online.
