5 New Speed Cameras Now Issuing Tickets, Fines in D.C.

WASHINGTON (WNEW) — Five automated speed cameras targeting heavy-footed drivers are being activated Friday in the District.

The cameras, which are all located in Southeast Washington, were installed in early June. For the first 30 days the cameras were operational, violators received only warning tickets in the mail.

But now that the 30-day grace period is over, regular traffic citations with the accompanying fines will be issued.

Speed limit: 30 mph

• 800 block Barnaby Street SE / sw/b
Speed limit: 25 mph

D.C. Police installed 14 automated cameras last month to crack down on speeders and restricted truck traffic in problematic areas.
