LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A 19-year-old mother is behind bars for the fatal beating of her toddler son in Baltimore.
Cierra Curtis was arrested and charged Thursday with the murder of her 21-month-old son, Jayden.
Police say they responded to the 5800 block of Reisterstown Road just before midnight on June 30 when they heard a woman screaming about her baby and attempted life-saving efforts to save him.
Jayden was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
The medical examiner ruled the cause of death to be a homicide by multiple injuries from blunt force trauma.
Officials were able to identify Curtis as the person responsible for the fatal beating.
Curtis is charged with murder, assault, child abuse and neglect.
