LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Some breathtaking new views of the Mormon temple in Kensington, Maryland can be seen in a video posted by YouTube user Tony Collins this week.

He says The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave him permission to fly a drone near the structure to capture the images.

According to Mormon.org, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has more than 100 temples around the world. Visitors are welcome on temple grounds, but only baptized members of the church are allowed inside temples once they are dedicated.

The Kensington temple was dedicated on Nov. 19, 1974 and, while non-Mormons have not been allowed inside for going on 40 years, the video may satisfy some curiosities harbored by those who see the building towering over the Capital Beltway day in and day out.
