WASHINGTON (WNEW) — Commuters will likely face significant delays Wednesday morning because of a sinkhole on 14th Street in northwest Washington.

One northbound lane of 14th Street NW between Constitution Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue is expected to be closed through at least the morning rush hour.

Crews from the District Department of Transportation and D.C. Water are investigating the cause of the sinkhole and making repairs.

Officials are encouraging motorists to seek alternate routes.
