LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A bright pink fire truck and ambulance duo are the newest additions to the Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department’s fleet.

Their unique color was chosen to support breast cancer awareness.

The fire truck is already named “Pinky,” but the Fire/EMS Department will accept recommendations for a nickname for the ambulance via Twitter (use the #PGFDPINK hashtag), Facebook and email (PGFDPIO@co.pg.md.us) through the end of July.

The department advises that suggestions should be one or two words and creative without the use of inappropriate language.

The person who submits the nickname that is selected will receive an official uniform pink shirt like the ones worn by Prince George’s County Firefighter/Medics during the month of October.

“Pinky” will be housed at the College Park Fire/EMS Station 812 near the University of Maryland.
