3-Year-Old Girl Struck, Killed in Southeast July Fourth

UPDATED: July 5, 2014 2:35 p.m.

WASHINGTON (WNEW) — A 3-year-old girl was struck and killed in Southeast Friday night.

D.C. Police say they responded to the 4000 block of Alabama Avenue around 5 p.m. The toddler, Samiya Holmes, walked into the roadway and was struck by a car.

The driver of the car, a 2001 Chevy Impala, stayed on the scene. Samiya was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
