Two Overnight Fatal Accidents in Prince George’s County

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Two fatal accidents shut down two roadways in Prince George’s County Friday night.
Just after 9 p.m., Prince George’s County Police were called to a pedestrian accident on Pennsylvania Avenue at Forestville Road, in Forestville. An adult male was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pennsylvania Avenue at Forestville Road was closed in both directions for about an hour as a result.
Police were also called to a single-vehicle accident around 10:15 p.m. in the 1140 block of Lanham Severn Road, in Lanham. The passenger, 62-year-old Gary Lionell Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a female, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The car was traveling southbound on Lanham Severn Road when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Lanham Severn Road at Greenbelt Road and Wingate Road was closed for nearly nine hours as crews worked to clear the accident.
