LANHAM, Md. (WNEW/AP) — Police are investigating two unrelated fatal motorcycle accidents in Montgomery County on July Fourth.
Montgomery County Police say they responded to the intersection of University Boulevard West and Dennis Avenue, in Silver Spring, around 5 p.m.
Authorities say 43-year-old Kyle Brett Faulkner of Beltsville struck a curb while riding his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle on University Boulevard and was thrown off the bike. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Officers also responded to the intersection of Sandy Spring Road and Birmingham Drive, in Beltsville, around 6:20 p.m.
Police say 33-year-old Carlos De Oliveira of Laurel was riding a 2007 Suzuki that crashed into a vehicle that was turning left onto Sandy Spring Road.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital with critical but non-life threatening injuries. The passenger on the motorcycle, 30-year-old Ebonie Cray of Silver Spring, was taken to a local hospital, where she died. De Oliveira survived his injuries.
The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries, and the passenger was uninjured, police say.
The crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
