Teacher Under Investigation for Innapropriate Contact with Minor Found Dead

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A female teacher under investigation for having inappropriate contact with a minor and assaulting a police officer has been found dead, according to Prince William County Police.

Linda Burke, 41, who taught at English as a Second Language at Potomac High School, was found deceased inside her Manassas home on Sunday, authorities say.

She died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to multiple reports.

Earlier this month, Virginia State Police launched an investigation into the allegations of inappropriate contact between Burke and a minor at the request of Prince William County Police.

Burke assaulted a VSP special agent while being interviewed on June 11 and was taken into custody, officials say.

She had been charged with one count of felony assault on a police officer and one misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice, police say.

Burke was scheduled to appear in court next month.
