Officials ID Man Found Shot at Arlington National Cemetery

ARLINGTON, Va. (WNEW/AP) — Officials say a man who apparently committed suicide at Arlington National Cemetery last week was a 92-year-old retired Air Force colonel.

Cemetery spokeswoman Melissa Bohan on Tuesday identified the man as Robert Terrill of Falls Church, Va.

Terrill’s body was found Friday in the section that contains a memorial to and remains of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.

The Army has said the man was found with a single gunshot wound and that they did not suspect foul play.

The area of the cemetery overlooks the Pentagon’s west side, where hijackers crashed a commercial airliner into the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters.
