Republican Larry Hogan
Larry Hogan grew up in Landover, Maryland, and spent his childhood in Prince George’s County. His father was a Republican congressman, but Hogan has not spent his life in politics. Instead, he says he can offer the state a fresh perspective as a businessman.
Hogan served as a cabinet secretary under former Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich, but has spent the last 29 years in the private sector as CEO and president of Hogan Companies, a real estate business he says has brought hundreds of businesses and thousands of jobs to Maryland.
Hogan says his three priorities include job creation, middle class families and restoring our economy, and would strive to bring taxes down.
“We are the only state in the nation that taxes the rain. They never met a tax they didn’t like, or at least one they didn’t hike,” Hogan says.
He says he entered the race for governor because he felt an obligation to do something.
“We’re going to cut spending and gradually roll back the taxes,” Hogan says.
