LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Police have arrested a juvenile for the attempted sexual assault of a woman on the Metropolitan Bike Trail Monday afternoon.
The boy approached and attempted to sexually assault the woman along a portion of the trail located in the 1800 block of 4th Street NE, shortly after noon, police say. He fled the area on a dark-colored bicycle.
Police arrested the juvenile, a resident of Northeast, Tuesday morning and charged him with assault with intent to commit first degree sexual abuse.
The woman told police her attacker was a black male, roughly 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build, medium complexion, short hair, and slight facial hair around his chin. He was wearing khaki cargo shorts or rolled up pants along with a white tank top at the time of the assault, authorities say.
