LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — An 11-year-old girl went missing Friday while swimming in the Wicomico River, and was found dead in the water in Charles County.
Police say around 2 p.m. on Sunday the girl, identified as Faith Janee Lee of Chaptico, was found dead along the shore near the 17400 block of Rock Point Road in Newburg after a boater spotted her body.
Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and took the lead on the investigation.
Foul play is not suspected at this time, according to police.
