UPDATE: A teen has been charged in connection to the crime spree.
LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Police in the District are searching for a man armed with a rifle or shotgun who is responsible for three incidents Wednesday morning in northwest.
All three crimes occurred within a short time of each other and are believed to be connected, police say.
Around 7:04 a.m. an armed man attempted to rob someone near Shearman Avenue and Crittenden Street NW, according to authorities.
About five minutes later, another attempted robbery occurred in the 4700 block of 8th Street NW. The man fled the area and was last seen running toward Decatur Street following the second failed attempt.
A short time later, the man was able to successfully rob a person of some money and a cell phone in the 5000 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW.
Authorities have a person stopped on New Hampshire Avenue and are working to determine whether the person is responsible for the robberies.
Police have described the suspect as a black man wearing a black knit cap, ski mask, and a black shirt.
