WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Five automated speed cameras targeting heavy-footed drivers are being deployed Wednesday in the District.

For the first 30 days the cameras are operational, violators will receive only warning tickets in the mail. However, once the grace period has expired regular moving citations with accompanying fines will be issued.

D.C. Police installed 14 automated cameras last month to crack down on speeders and restricted truck traffic in problematic areas.
