LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A 9-year-old was robbed of his cellphone when a man in his late teens asked him the time, Anne Arundel County Police say.
Around 3:15 p.m. Friday, police responded to the intersection of Red Clay Road and Old Annapolis Road in Laurel for a report of a robbery.
A 9-year-old boy told police that he was walking near the intersection when a man approached him, asked him for the time, and grabbed his cellphone when he pulled it out of his pocket. Police say the 9-year-old would not let go of the phone, but lost his grip and fell to the ground.
The man then fled on foot with the phone. The boy was not injured.
The man is described as a black male in his late teens with a crew cut wearing a dark hoodie.
