LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Two men were arrested and charged Friday in the killing of a 25-year-old woman in a College Park hotel room.
Prince George’s County Police say 23-year-old Vaughn Bellamy and 24-year-old Barry Foxx fatally shot 25-year-old Catina Cortes inside a hotel room at the Ramada Limited College Park on Tuesday.
Police said at a news conference Friday that Bellamy, of Northeast Washington, and Cortes, of Far Rockaway, New York, had agreed to meet at the hotel, located in the 9100 block of Baltimore Avenue, and exchange money for sex.
Police said when officers were called to the scene at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, they found Cortes dead from a gunshot wound inside the room.
Bellamy and Foxx were arrested Friday morning at Foxx’s Temple Hills home. Police say a handgun was found inside the home that is believed to be the murder weapon.
Bellamy is charged with first- and second-degree murder, and a gun charge. Foxx is charged with accessory after the fact. Police believe Foxx provided transportation for Bellamy to and from the hotel.
Both men are in custody at the Department of Corrections.
The hotel is located about a mile north of the University of Maryland campus.
