NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WNEW/AP) — Low-fare airline PEOPLExpress says it has begun selling tickets for flights from Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport to seven destinations.
Service begins June 30 with flights to and from Newark, Boston and Pittsburgh. West Palm Beach will be added on July 15, followed by Atlanta on Aug. 1 and New Orleans and St. Petersburg, Florida, on Aug. 28.
The airline says fares will start as low as $76 each way and that fees for checked bags are lower than most major carriers. A $20 fee will be imposed for the first checked back and a $25 fee for the second.
The airline is based at the Newport News/Williamsburg airport. It will fly Boeing 737-400 planes that seat 150 passengers.
