LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — An investigation into a suspicious package closed a portion of 49th Street in northeast Washington for more than four hours early Tuesday.
Police were called to 49th Street and Lee Street NE around 2:40 a.m. after a small explosion was heard in the area. Bomb technicians arrived at the scene shortly after 5 a.m.
49th Street, which had been closed in both directions between Lee Street and Sheriff Road NE, was reopened around 6:50 a.m.
