LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – The parents of an 8-month-old baby got high and passed out inside a car in Annapolis, authorities say.

Anne Arundel County Police say 20-year-old Brooke Amber Michael and 20-year-old Michael Patrick May were found asleep inside their car Saturday in a McDonald’s parking lot on General’s Highway.

The infant was found in the back seat and was alert. Paramedics, according to police, had to physically wake up the parents.

The couple stumbled while exiting the car and had slurred speech, police say.

Officers found synthetic marijuana known as “K2” and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Both have been charged with neglect of a minor and the possession of drug paraphernalia.

The infant was taken to a local hospital for a precautionary evaluation and has since been released to the custody of his grandfather.
