LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Metro Transit Police will conduct a response exercise June 1 at the Wiehle-Reston East Station.
Metro Transit Police, together with local jurisdictions and law enforcement partners, will conduct the security exercise to test response from multiple agencies to an emergency scenario on the new Silver Line.
Officials say the goal of the exercise is to build coordination and provide an opportunity to practice unified command in preparation for the opening of the Silver Line, which includes a number of jurisdictions who share responsibility for the areas surrounding the five new Metrorail stations.
The Fairfax County Police Department, Virginia State Police, and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police will join Metro Transit Police in the exercise. The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will provide support.
The exercise will begin around 8 a.m. and take several hours to complete, according to officials.
This exercise is closed to the public and the media.
