BALTIMORE — A mixed breed puppy is barely hanging on to life after being found too weak to walk in an alley in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Baltimore.
The person who found her says she acted friendly, and tried to get up, but was too weak to move. Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) workers conclude that she must have been placed there, probably earlier that day.
BARCS says she wouldn’t have survived more than a day or two if she hadn’t been found. She’s malnourished, covered in lesions and appears to have been burned. She also has an extreme case of mange.
Jennifer Brause, BARCS’ executive director, wants to see the owner prosecuted because the abuse appears to have been ongoing. The nonprofit ReLove Animals is offering and $1,100 reward to information leading to an arrest or conviction of the person responsible for Petunia’s abuse.
She is now on her way to South Carolina for continued treatment and recovery at Noah’s Ark Rescue. If you’re interested in contributing to her care, click here.
