LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A Virginia man has been charged with manipulating a mentally-incapacitated women into prostitution.
Robert Moore, 31, of Reston, allegedly used online ads for a 22-year-old woman’s services and took her to meet clients, Fairfax County Police say. Moore kept all of the money the woman received.
Moore has been charged with promoting prostitution, receiving earning from prostitution and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Sex trafficking is defined as the act of manipulating or forcing anyone under 18 to engage in a sex act in exchange for anything of value – and an average of two new potential victims are identified each week, according to police.
Authorities say sex trafficking is on the rise across Northern Virginia and teens are being targeted in public areas such as bus stops, parties and shopping malls.
