Thousands Without Power After Strong Storms

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — About 1,500 customers are still without power after strong thunderstorms battered the region Tuesday afternoon. Strong winds and torrential rains caused trees and power lines to topple during the storm.

A woman sustained non-life threatening injuries when lightning struck nearby as she walked her dog near Blunt Road and Brink Road in Germantown.

Another round of thunderstorms is forecast for Wednesday afternoon.

Here are the outages as of 7:40 a.m.

Dominion (Northern Va.): 541
Pepco (primarily in Montgomery Co.): 906
BGE: 62
Potomac Edison: 31
