Updated Monday, June 6: Lurch decided to forgo foster care and officially adopt his dog.

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The journey of Lurch welcoming a dog into the Poppa family has been an evolving one, dating back to July 2013 — when he bleakly asked “What will make my life happy?” — only to later reveal the thought of his eldest daughter maturing had become a source of depression.

After a series of twists and turns,  which included the revelation Lurch was interested in purchasing a Rottweiler, this emotional soul-searching journey may have finally reached its blissful conclusion, thanks to the Washington Animal Rescue League (warl.org), who brought in a trio of furry orphans in need of a home Wednesday.

First, there was “Pokie” the Yorkie. They weren’t cised for each other at all, but EB seemed to like her.

Then, Lurch met “Pirate” the Black Lab, who he liked, but had doubts about how much shedding would be involved, and didn’t really the fit the age range of what Lurch was looking for, as he’s really after a dog closer to puppyhood.

Finally, Lurch was introduced to “Brianna” the Dutch Shepard, and it appeared to be love at first sight.
