LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A 90-year-old woman was taken to a hospital on a fire engine Tuesday, after she waited more than a half-hour for a D.C. ambulance to arrive.

D.C. Fire and EMS says “the unit dispatched to the scene may have been erroneously rerouted” which caused a “significant delay.”

An investigation is now underway to determine why the ambulance never arrived.

The woman is expected to be OK, WNEW Senior Correspondent Mark Segraves reports.
