LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A car struck a Shell gas station near BWI airport and damaged a natural gas line around 2 p.m. Thursday.
The accident happened on the 1000 block of Aviation Boulevard. BWI Airport Fire and Rescue responded to the incident, and BGE was contacted to address the gas leak.
As a result, Aviation Boulevard was closed from Camp Meade Road to Elm Road. Aviation Boulevard on the north side of the airport reopened around 3:30 p.m.
Officials say a Lexus convertible jumped the curb, struck a natural gas line and scraped the building.
There were no injuries reported and very little damage to the building.
Airport operation was not affected.
