Bystanders Rescue 3 Out of Car in Water in Gaithersburg

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — An accident in Montgomery County sent one car into a tree and another down an embankment and into the water around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Pete Piringer, Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, says it happened on the 880 block of East Village Avenue. Piringer says some bystanders rescued three people out of the car in the water.

The other car hit a tree head-on.

Two people involved in the crash were transported with non-life threatening injuries.

Montgomery County Police are investigating the crash.
