POTOMAC, Md. (AP) — President Barack Obama says it’s false to say that Democrats are as unreasonable as Republicans and are responsible for Washington’s dysfunction.
Obama is speaking at a fundraiser in Maryland benefiting House Democrats. He’s poking fun at Republicans for focusing the national debate on the Benghazi attacks and his health care law. He says it’s become an endless loop.
Obama says the issues Republicans are focusing on aren’t serious and don’t speak to people’s real concerns.
Obama says the GOP’s principal focus on any given day is to try to make people sufficiently cynical, angry and suspicious that Republicans can win the next election.
Obama is urging Democratic donors to make sure the party has the resources to organize their voters and get them to the polls in November’s midterm elections.
