LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A man and woman in their 20’s were struck and killed by a minivan in Hughesville as they stood in the middle of a dark roadway Friday night.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office say they responded to the 14300 block of Burnt Store Road around 9:30 p.m.
A witness told police that they were traveling eastbound on Burnt Store Road when he saw a minivan stopped in the middle of the dark roadway. The witness said he saw a man and woman, who appeared to be arguing, outside of the car in the westbound lane near a curve and just over a hill-crest.
At that point, the driver of a minivan crested the hill and struck the man and woman.
The man is identified as 25-year-old Steven Jacob Briggs, of Brandywine, who died on scene. The woman is identified as 24-year-old Leeann Renee Robinson, of Lexington Park, was flown to shock trauma but died upon arrival.
The driver of the minivan stayed on the scene.
Police are investigating.
