LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — The Leesburg Police Department has obtained warrants the man responsible in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Roxana Rico.
Police say they responded to a home in the area of 125 Clubhouse Drive SW around 2 p.m. Friday after receiving a call for someone who was injured and in need of medical assistance. Once police arrived, Rico was found suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds to her upper torso.
Police say they also found 43-year-old Marco Corletto who was suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted stab wounds to his arms. Rico and Corletto were medevaced to Fairfax-Inova Hospital.
Rico was pronounced dead at the hospital Friday afternoon. Police say they were able to determine it was a domestic-related incident and the two were in a relationship.
Two school-aged children resided at the home and were not at home at the time of the incident. They are currently with representatives of the Loudoun County Department of Family Services awaiting the release to family members.
Corletto remains under police watch while he is in critical, but stable condition at the hospital. Once released, police say he will be taken into custody on the murder warrant and brought before a Fairfax County Magistrate for a bond hearing.
Corletto resided at times in both Leesburg, Va. and New Jersey.
Police say this is the first homicide in the Leesburg in 2014. The case remains under investigation.
