Redskins Sign USC RB Silas Redd, 8 Other Undrafted Players

by Chuck Carroll

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — USC running back Silas Redd was among nine undrafted free agents signed by the Washington Redskins, according to Wednesday’s NFL transaction sheet.

Redd, 22, is a native of Norwalk, Connecticut and spent two years at Penn State before transferring in wake of a child sexual abuse scandal that brought sweeping changes to Happy Valley.

He rushed for 905 yards on 167 carries in 2012 for the Trojans, finding the end zone on nine occasions. Injuries to both knees derailed his progress as a senior.

Washington previously signed Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees.

The group is scheduled to report to Ashburn to take part in this weekend’s mandatory rookie minicamp at Redskins Park.
