Police Flooded With 911 Calls For Young Girl Walking Along I-270

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A young girl walking along Interstate 270 during rush hour Wednesday morning sparked a flood of 911 calls to local police, authorities say.
Maryland State Police, Montgomery County Police, and Rockville Police received about 15 calls regarding a school-aged girl walking down the side of the major highway around 8 a.m., WNEW senior correspondent Mark Segraves says.
Police say they immediately responded to the area where the girl was reported to be walking and soon located her at her school.
After speaking with the 11-year-old girl, police determined that she had missed her school bus and decided to walk to school.
The girl’s guardians and school administrators were notified of the incident.
