WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Former Wizards star Gilbert Arenas appears to be taking training for his final NBA comeback seriously, as he assured listeners on these very airwaves last month he would.
“I’m in the middle of training now,” Arenas told 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier. “I said I’m gonna give it one more chance. I told Nick [Young] I’m gonna actually put some heart into it. You know, I lost it there for awhile.”
Arenas, who last played in an NBA game in May 2012, has been Instagram’ing videos of him working on his game in the gym the last few days, and from the looks of it, he’s putting in work.
Honestly, his jumper is looking pretty sweet.
Seriously. Check it out.
(He claims that weird mask thing he’s wearing in some of the videos restricts his breathing, presumably to better prepare him for game conditions.)
In the first video, he demonstrates how to create space for your shot.
In the second, he shows off his consistency from long range.
Third (wearing the Bane mask), Gil flexes his ball-handling skills and agility in the paint.
The last video appears to be some strange assortment of Arenas showing off. Thankfully he’s not still selling that reformed humorist routine he feigned on his way out of Washington in 2010.
