LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Believe it or not, the D.C./Baltimore area did not make the top 10, or even the top 50, in a list of cities that are the worst for allergy sufferers.

In fact, both cities are only “average,” according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Rankings factor in each city’s pollen score, local pharmacy data and the number of certified allergists based in the area.

Richmond, Va., was the worst local city for allergies, coming in at number eight.

D.C. ranked 67 and Baltimore ranked 73.

The worst cities are:

  1. Louisville, KY
  2. Memphis, TN
  3. Baton Rouge, LA
  4. Oklahoma City, OK
  5. Jackson, MS
  6. Chattanooga, TN
  7. Dallas, TX
  8. Richmond, VA
  9. Birmingham, AL
  10. McAllen, TX
