LANGLEY PARK, Md. (WNEW/AP) — Authorities have identified a man found stabbed to death on the Northwest Branch Trail.

Maryland-National Capital Park Police said Monday that the man found on a secluded section of the trail in Langley Park on Saturday night has been identified as 19-year-old Akinley Warner, a graduate of High Point High School.

Officers with park police and Prince George’s County Police responded to a report of an unconscious man near the 1500 block of Quebec Street and found Warner suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are concerned about a recent uptick in serious crimes in the area. Montgomery County Police say a person has been taken into custody in connection with the sexual assault of a jogger along the trail last week.
