LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Over the weekend, Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs received an honorary doctorate from the school he dropped out of after just two years of tutelage in the late 1980s., D.C.’s Howard University.
The historically black college conferred 105 doctoral degrees at the ceremony, making this year’s class the largest Ph.D. class in the school’s history.
Combs shared insights from both his time at Howard and his own personal experiences, stressing the support of his mother, the importance of believing in yourself and not being afraid to fail.
“I want you to take the craziest dream in your head – the dream that you’re too embarrassed to tell anyone else about, and I want you to go after it,” he said.
