
LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — The Coast Guard, along with local agencies, are searching for a 23-year-old man Wednesday after his kayak was found overturned on the Potomac River.
Missing is Jeryll Dickerson. Officials say a friend of Dickerson contacted watch-standers at the Coast Guard Station in St. Inigoes, Md. around 12:30 p.m. reporting Dickerson missing after last being seen at 7:30 a.m. kayaking on the Potomac River. A Westmoreland, Va. fire rescue boat crew located the man’s overturned kayak on the river.
Responding crews include a crew aboard a 29-foot Coast Guard Response Boat, an aircrew aboard an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station in New Jersey, a Westmoreland fire rescue boat crew, Maryland Natural Resources Police boat crews, a St. Mary’s County fire rescue boat crew and a Maryland State Police helicopter aircrew.
