Secret Service: Car Attempted To Follow Obama Daughters’ Motorcade Through White House Checkpoint

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A driver was been taken into custody after attempting to follow the motorcade of President Barack Obama’s daughters through a White House checkpoint, the Secret Service says.

The White House was on lockdown for a short time after the first reports of an unauthorized vehicle came through at around 4:40 p.m. It has since been lifted.

The driver, who has been identified as 55-year-old Mathew Evan Goldstein, has since been taken into custody although nothing was found in the car that posed a threat.

He has been charged with unlawful entry.
