Edsall Primed to Guide Maryland Into Big Ten Fray
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Randy Edsall believes he’s the right coach to take the Maryland football program into the Big Ten.
In just a few months, the Terrapins will formally become part of one of the nation’s most competitive and prestigious football conferences. Maryland begins Big Ten play this season with a schedule that includes Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Michigan State.
Although the Terrapins have improved in each of Edsall’s three years on the job, many expect Maryland to struggle after leaving the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Edsall says: “The challenge is to try to prove people wrong, those people who don’t think we’re going to be able to be competitive from the get-go.”
Byrd Stadium hasn’t been filled for many football games over the past decade. This fall, that should change.
