Man Robbed at Gunpoint Answering Craigslist Ad

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A man was robbed at gunpoint by two men when he went to a house to purchase a dirt bike that was advertised on Craigslist.

Police say a 24-year-old man went to an address in the 1800 block of Oriole Court in Severn, Md. to purchase a dirt bike around 4:50 p.m. Saturday. Two men wearing ski masks approached him before he was able to knock on the door of the home.

One man pointed a two-tone black and silver handgun at the victim and another man demanded everything out of his pockets. The victim gave the men cash, a cell phone and other items.

Police say two other men were standing in the area and acted as look-outs during the incident.

The victim ran to his vehicle and all four men fled the area on foot. There were no injuries to the victim, and he approached an Anne Arundel County police officer and reported the incident twenty to thirty minutes after it occurred.

Investigators say the Oriole Court address listed on the Craigslist ad was a vacant dwelling.

Police say the area was canvassed but the men were not found.

One suspect is described as a black male in his late teens, tall and skinny, wearing a black ski mask armed with a black and silver handgun. Another suspect is described as a black male also in his late teens, tall and skinny, wearing a black ski mask.

There is no description available for the other two suspects that police say served as look-outs.

The investigation is ongoing.
