LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A four-year-old boy drowned in a creek near a birthday party he was attending, authorities say.

The celebration was being held in the front yard of the home in the 100 block of Marley Creek Drive in Glen Burnie, Md.

Anne Arundel County Police say Jaden Dixon wandered off from the party he was at with a relative Saturday evening. Detectives believe Jaden was able to get into the gated backyard and walked to a small pier by Marley Creek.

Partygoers noticed Jaden was missing a short time later, and found the boy unconscious, floating in the creek.

Several guests jumped into the water and pulled the child ashore, where police were called and performed CPR.

Paramedics arrived and transported the child to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
