LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The owner of the Washington Wizards believes the NBA should have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to racism.

In response to the alleged racist remarks by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling that were leaked online, Wizards owner Ted Leonis issued a brief statement over the weekend.

Leonsis Statement

“As I have stated, there should be zero tolerance for hatemongering.

Hate speech demonstrates an ignorance that is unacceptable, and I implore all of us to help eliminate any form of discrimination.

I have full confidence that Commissioner Silver will conduct a thorough investigation and act accordingly upon his findings.”

Tabloid website TMZ posted an audio recording allegedly of Sterling chastising his then model-girlfriend V. Stiviano for posting pictures of herself with African-Americans on Instragram — most notably with basketball legend Magic Johnson.
