LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — An Annapolis police officer was hit by a truck while sitting in his cruiser on Compromise Street shortly before midnight Saturday.

Around 11:45 p.m., an unmarked police cruiser was in the area of 80 Compromise Street near Fleet Reserve Club when a Ford truck lost control and struck the cruiser’s driver side.

The officer was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated. He was also flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma but was released Sunday.

The driver of the truck, identified as 28-year-old Owen Frank of Crownsville, did not have any reported injuries and has been charged with traffic violations related to driving under the influence.
