Swim Coach Charged With Sex Offenses, Child Abuse of Student

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A Prince George’s County swim coach has been charged with child abuse and several sex offenses after a former student said he engaged her in numerous sex acts, according to authorities.

Christopher Thomas Huott, 52, of Fulton, Md., was arrested Thursday. Montgomery County Police say Huott is the founder and owner of the Maryland Suburban Swim Club in Laurel, Md.

The girl told police last month that Huott had abused her several times while he was her coach and in his care.

A Montgomery County Police spokesperson said the incidents occurred in Montgomery County and not at the swim club.

Huott has been charged with one count of child abuse, one count of committing a second degree sex offense and three counts of committing a third degree sex offense. He is being held on $50,000 bond.

Police believe Huott may have abused other children and are asking anyone who may have been victimized to contact the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400.
