GLENARDEN, Md. (WNEW) — A car crashed through the front of a home in Glenarden early Thursday, startling the family sleeping one floor above.
A white car drove across the lawn and slammed through the front door before coming to rest into the living room of a residence located in the 9200 block of Gary Lane around 1:30 a.m. The crash caused extensive damage to the home.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
The owner of the house, who did not want to be identified, told WNEW reporter Jim MacKay they smelled alcohol on the driver.
“I don’t know. We were asleep and we heard a loud sound,” the homeowner said. “I got up and peeked out of the bathroom window upstairs and I heard this car running like it was trying to move. I peaked over further, looked down and all I could see was the tail end of the car. The rest of the car was in the house.”
The driver of the vehicle was able to walk and left with paramedics after apologizing for the accident, according to the homeowner.
